mannan and galactomannan consist of a backbone made of only β-1,4-linked mannose, glucomannan and galacto-glucomannan contain both mannose and glucose units in their backbone linked together in the β-1,4 configuration (Fig. 1). In the case of galactomannan and galactoglu-comannan the mannosyl residue can be substituted with guar galactomannan was obtained from Sigma Aldrich (batch 14K0168). Spruce galactoglucomannan was generously provided by Professor Stefan Wilför (Åbo Academy, Finland), and Pichia pastoris KM71H expressing wild-type GaO was kindly supplied by Professor H. Brumer (University of British Columbia) [26]. Reported molecular weights of Galactomannan consists of a β-1,4-linked D-mannose residues backbone, which can be substituted by D-galactose residues via an α-1,6-linkage. Man-nose/galactose ratios vary from 1.0 to 5.3 depending on the source of the polysaccharides.

β-mannanase and β-mannosidase were coinduced in glucose-grown cells by galactomannan, galactoglucomannan, and β-1,4-manno-oligosaccharides. BoMan26A primarily formed mannobiose from mannan polysaccharides. BoMan26B had higher activity on galactomannan with a high degree of galactosyl substitution and was shown to be endo-acting generating a more diverse mixture of oligosaccharides, including mannobiose. Of the two β-mannanases, only BoMan26B hydrolyzed galactoglucomannan. The galactose-containing polysaccharides studied were spruce galactoglucomannan, guar galactomannan, and tamarind galactoxyloglucan. The galactosyl units of the polysaccharides were first oxidized with galactose oxidase (EC 1.1.3.9) and then selectively carboxylated, resulting in the galacturonic acid derivatives with good conversion and yield.

This range of chemical structures gives rise to poly-mers with different biological functions. Mannans are present, for example, in palm (Phoenix dactylifera) Galactose units of spruce galactoglucomannan (GGM), guar galactomannan (GM), and tamarind (galacto)xyloglucan (XG) were selectively allylated. Beta-mannan is a component of NSP and exists as 4 different forms (pure mannan, galactomannan, glucoamannan, and galactoglucomannan) in the cell wall structure of feed ingredients (Sundu et … Carboxylated, anionic polysaccharides were selectively prepared using a combination of enzymatic and chemical reactions. The galactose-containing polysaccharides studied were spruce galactoglucomannan, guar galactomannan, and tamarind galactoxyloglucan.

tomannan and galactoglucomannan (Melton etal., 2009; Zhong et al., 2019). Homomannan consists of a linear chain of b-1,4-linked mannosyl residues, whereas glucomannan is made up of a linear chain of b-1,4-linked mannosyl residues interspersed with b-1,4-linked glucosyl residues. Galactomannan has a b-1,4- Reaction of one Ch serum with T. cruzi galactomannan (GM) was completely inhibited by synthetic beta-D-Galf-(1----3)-Me alpha-D-Manp, and that of another Ch serum with a purified D. dendroides galactoglucomannan (GGM) was partly inhibited by (1----6)-linked (81%) or by (1----3)-linked (33%) beta-D-Galf-Me alpha-D-Manp.
The molecular size distribution became more disperse as galactomannan accumulated and the galactose: mannose ratio decreased slightly. The polysaccharides studied included spruce galactoglucomannan, guar galactomannan, larch arabinogalactan, corn fiber arabinoxylan, and tamarind seed xyloglucan, with terminal galactose contents
Water-soluble galactomannan, which is the primary storage form of carbohydrates in leguminous seeds, may comprise up to 20% of their total dry weight (McCleary, Reference McCLEARY 1988). Soybean meal's ß-mannans are linear polysaccharides formed from repeating ß-1-4 mannose and α-1-6 galactose molecules bound to the ß-mannan backbone (Jackson et al. , Reference JACKSON, GERONIAN, KNOX
Galactose is also commonly found linked to mannan and glucomannan polysaccharide backbones through α1-6 linkages to form galactomannan and galactoglucomannan, respectively. Galactomannan is mainly a structural polysaccharide and galactoglucomannan is commonly utilized for energy storage. Galactoglucomannan and galactomannan are among the most abundant plant polysaccharides in nature.

This link depends on the substitution of acids or carbohydrate in the framework (Olaniyi et al., 2013). Among the various methods of degradation, the one by enzymes is the one often selected as a result of the ease of implementation. Four key enzymes work sequentially in the breakdown of Galactomannan has a β‐1,4‐linked mannose backbone with α‐galactose side chains attached to O‐6 of some mannosyl residues, and galactoglucomannan is composed of a β‐1,4‐linked glucomannan backbone substituted with α‐galactose at O‐6 of some mannosyl residues. Structural changes in galactomannan on germination of lucerne, carob, honey locust, guar and soybean seeds, as measured by viscosity, elution volumes on gel filtration and ultra-centrifugation were slight consistent with a rapid and complete hydrolysis of a molecule once hydrolysis of the mannan chain starts.
Galactose oxidase was used as a catalyst to oxidize selectively the C-6 hydroxyls of terminal galactose to carbonyl groups. The polysaccharides studied included spruce galactoglucomannan, guar galactomannan, larch arabinogalactan, corn fiber arabinoxylan, and tamarind seed xyloglucan, with terminal galactose contents varying from 6% to 40%. A multienzyme system was used, with catalase and
acetylated galactoglucomannan.

It exerts activity on β-1,4-mannan from ivory nut, which is hydrolyzed mainly to mannobiose and mannotriose, as well as on glucomannan, galactomannan, galactoglucomannan, and mannooligosaccharides not smaller than mannotetraose. Glucomannan, galactomannan, galactoglucomannan (GGM) and linear mannans are the four subfamilies of the mannan family (Reference de Petkowicz, Reicher and Chanzy 22). The backbone of all mannan polysaccharides contains β(1–4)-linked mannose or a combination of mannose and glucose residues, which can be substituted with α(1–6)-linked galactose ( Reference Chauhan, Puri and Sharma 23 ) . guar galactomannan was obtained from Sigma Aldrich (batch 14K0168).
